I need advice guys and girls. I have never done this before and I am going to need some help. A buddy of mine gave me one of his old trucks. It's an 84 F-150 302 AOD. What I am wanting to do is put a 460 and C6 in it. I just finished putting the shift kit together in the C6 last night. What I want to know from you is problems I might run into, what motor mounts to use, any chasis madifications, tranny mounts, etc. Any help would be appriciated. Thanks in advance. By the way the truck is 2WD if you need to know that.
Unglued: I swapped a 460/C6 into an 83 2WD. To save repeating a lot of unnecessary stuff, e-mail me with any questions you haven't got answers to yet. I'd be happy to try and help.
The engine mount pedestals will need to be changed. After that the stock 460 mounts will work fine. My swap was on an 82 4X4. The transmission mount did not need to be altered. Check the size of your radiator - if its not HD you may need to change it. I kept mine (from 351W with A/C). I was able to use my original alternator, pwr steering, but I switched over to serpentine belt setup so had to get late model A/C compressor. Feel free to e-mail me with questions as well. Also check out L&L they have swap kits, headers, etc.
