Hi I have a 2005 F-350 with 6.0 and 6 speed. Since new the truck stops pulling at 3300 rpm's. I have seen in other posts people say there truck will wind up to 4000 and more no problem. What would cause it to stop sooner? Any ideas would be great.
Depends upon the gear and the conditions. The stock motor itself will run to around 3500 to 3600 then start shutting down the fueling. But I've often seen cases where when towing I'd like to have it shift up from 5th to 3rd/4th but nope it just wants to chug along at the low 3000's.
With the SCMT installed the motor will rev higher and the shift points are set to around 3900 RPM depending upon load - partial throttle shifts are lower.
The SCMT for the '05 is supposed to be out any day now and that will take care of your problem. You won't be able to stop grinning once you give it a try
My bone stock 6.0 with 6spd has spun to near 4000rpm on more than one occasion. Not that I try to do that on a regular basis, but it seems to be pulling quite hard when at that point, it should be running out of power.
I was playing in the new snow tonight on the way home and I was fish tailing around a corner in 3rd gear. I kept my foot in it and revved it on up. The wheels kept spinning until I felt what seemed like the speed limiter that kicks in for me at 98mph. I looked down at the tach and I was at 3900rpm.....good thing it kicked in I think...should have been paying closer attention! But, I love new snow!
Anyhow, I have an stock '04 with the 6 speed and 3:73 gears. It's also 4x4 but that is no fun sometimes
Another 6 speed here... and no problem running it to 3900 rpm...just keeps pulling. I too do not make a habit out this but have been there on occasion.
