Diagnostic Help Please - Electronic

1997 Expedition - 4.6L - vehicle is running and driving fine, but just started a strange electronic deal with the dash board. The yellow airbag light is flashing on, and sometimes staying on. The AWD, 4WH, 4WL, and Low Wash lights are flashing on at irregular times (all together), along with an audible click - like when you first select four wheel drive. The vehicle is not in four wheel drive. My wife drives the truck and she said that the speedometer was acting funny also, but I didn't see it on a test drive. I was thinking possibly the speed sensor?

Can anyone offer any suggestions. I'll look at the manual tonight and see what I can find.

You may want to check under the dash to see if there are any leaks and components getting wet. Another thought would be how old is your battery? I have read many stories on here of wierd things happening when the battery gets older and won't keep a full charge.

Not sure if this will help, but it's a place to start!

I am having a similar problem:

1. No speedometer
2. Low washer, A4wd, 4WD, Low Range lights comming on with relay click comming from near my left foot. Lights flash on an off. Then stay off. If I shift from Drive to Nertrual and back to Drive again the lights will flash for a little more then go dark.
3. Truck is not shifting out of first gear soon enough ... does so maybe at 3,500 rpm or more.
4. Air bag light is on. Stays on all the time.

Now last week I brought the truck to the dealer to fix all of the above problems.. Ford dealer did the following repair:

1. Removed and resealed wiinshield.
2. Replaced GEM module.
3. Replaced fuse block.
I looked at the removed parts and there was a little green corosion on the 2 of the fuse terminals.

Truck operated fine then one week later it starated all over again.

Any ideas ??

I might need to have the fuse block and GEM replaced. Is there a ballpark on what this costs? Less than $500, more than $1000...?

FWIW, I am having very similar problems suddenly on my '01, started today on a rainy day. I'm thinking things are getting very wet under there somehow.

I did have a new windsheild replacement about 3 months ago, but this is the first sign of trouble since then. I wonder if there is a bad seal?

I had my gem replaced by a electrical specialty place and I think it was around $200 or so.
