Question Block Coolant Drain Plug Installation

When I install a new coolant drain plug on my block do I need to use any sealer like pipe-dope or teflon tape on the plug?

I don't think so. There pressed in anyway, so it would be hard to stick something on 'em.

Years ago, I had a 1969 Dodge Dart GTS with the 340 4-BBl. I had more fun than humans should be allowed to have. I maintained the Dodge, and had replaced the block plugs with brass pet***** to drain the coolant, out of the block. I used a small amouth of white teflon tape around the threads. It never leaked, and flushing the block was very easy this way.

They are pipe threads and are tapered, and teflon tape or pipe-dop work very well.
You can get them to seal if you can get them tight enough with out it---- dope or
tape lubricates the threads so you can.
