My Bronco sits a 1.5 inches higher in the front than the rear from the lift kit I installed 2 years ago. So I was thinking of moving my Spring bucks up 1.5 inches to lower the front. Its plenty high enough and I don't want to lift the rear any more than it is. Moving the Spring Buckets up and redrilling it wouldn't be so bad to do and would lower my front end. Sure I could buy another set of springs but I like the ride from these and with springs you never get the exact hight they advertise and i could ended up the same or too low.
A lot of work to lose what could be compressed into the front spring if its a really big deal. Not that I support the idea of using anything to reduce the usable length of the springs, I would consider shorter front springs first. I realize it would most likely cost nothing but time and effort to do what you are considering, just not a project I would look forward to just to lose 1.5" from the front end height. Just a personal opinion...from a practicality standpoint it makes perfect sense. No actual dollars out of pocket (assuming you have the tools to make the change) and you get the front end back to level with the rear.
I thought of cutting the springs but again it would be hard to know by how much to cut. Also the other reason I want to do this is to put me under the radar of the lift laws we have here. Cops are actully taking trucks off of the road here for being lifted, so by lowering the front to be the same with the rear i'll be at a 2.5 to 3" lift. hardly noticable on a full size truck.
Bossind have you called the manufacture of your lift kit. they should be able to tell you how much height to remove from your springs to lower your ride height 1 1/2"
There is a formula for cutting springs to get a certain ride height.
You can always cut off one full turn, and that should be a very safe bet with respect to mounting, too.
One full turn looks to be alot, considering the spring it self is almost an inch thick and take the spaces between that one coil, it would need to be more like a 1/4 cut. but than you need to bend the fresh cut down and in to fit in the bucket, and than have to match it exactly on the other side. Yeah not so easy to just cut coils off.

that may be an ideal, still the spring is shaped at each end so thats not going to be ease either. Wish I had access to a bunch of springs to try.
Ok I'm not going to raise the buckets, they wrap around under the frame so I would have to cut that edge off to raise them and I don't feel thats such a good ideal. So i'm going to buy a set of 2.5" lift coils and sell or trade my 4" coils.
So thank you all for letting me bounce this off you.
What brand 4" coils do you have? I might buy them from you to offset the cost of new coils.
Did you have drop brackets or extended radius arms or anything to go with them? How did it ride and handle?
