HI folks
today I was given an 85 ford F250 crewcab 2wd for free. It is rough and it neeeds some work. Normally I am partial to 66-76 fords but hey, it was FREE. can someone help in decoding this VIN? I dont know anything about the fords from 77-up! here is the #
prefix 3
1FTHX 25Y5F KA844 21
thanks again
~~NUT~~
1FT is US Ford Truck
H is the brake/GVWR 9-10,000lb
X says it's an extended cab (2-door), not a crew cab (4-door)
25 is F-250
Y is the 300ci straight 6 engine
5 is the VIN check digit
F is 1985
K is the Kansas City, MO, plant
& the rest is the serial number
OK
now i know that i might be a pain in the *ss LOL but what kind of dana axle? that rating seems kind of high. what is that rating vs. a dana 60? the reason i ask is because the guy that gave it to me said that it is a factory 1 ton axle and i thought that he was pulling my leg. ford put a 1 ton axle in a 3/4 ton truck? something isnt right :-X23 thanks again!
It's a F250HD, one ton chassis with the exception of the front axle, frame is identical, rear axles are too.
