E4OD and 4R100 questions

E4OD and 4R100 questions
i think i got confused somewhere, can someone clear this up..
i heard the E4OD was the automatic tranny in both the half ton fords and the 1 ton diesels.. i thought the 4R100 was the manual transmission for the 1 ton?
is this right? or is the 4R100 the auto for the 1 ton? (gas or diesel)

The 4R100 replaced the E4OD starting in 1999. They are basically the same transmissions, the 4R100 has several improvements.
The Superduty autos from '99 and newer are all 4R100s. Some F150s use the 4R100, too.
