Here is another option for you.
Roadrunner Converters - Phoenix, Arizona Converters - Street, Trip, Towing
4th one down on the left side. They call it a Towmaster. I know a few folks who have used this converter in their 7.3 with satisfactory results. If you are in the Phoenix area, then you can pick it up yourself and save on shipping.
Good luck.

Do you know a good PHX area shop that you would use to install a TC?

They built the trans in Alvin and recently built the transmission in my friends 7.3 Excursion. When they did my friend's Excursion, they replaced the up-pipe gaskets since it was the practical thing to do. No extra cost...my friend only had to provide the parts.

The first one is the same strength converter your truck came with. The second one is stronger. The third one is the strongest. Any will work, the stronger ones will last longer. Low stall is what you need, and all of these are low stall.

The fact they changed the uppie gaskets says something about their customer service and experience.

Now is your truck a Early 1999? Check the date it was built in your drivers door jam. Because if it is a Early99 that would explains the torque converter going out. There were a real problems with the E99 torque converter design. And here is some more info on "4R100 Torque Converters"
https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-problems.html
And like HD Rider said I hope it didn't take out the transmission. If so you might break or ruin a new torque converter. Also the valves in the trans pump can cause a t.c. to go bad. Sorry for sounding negative but better safe than sorry.
