Here's my problem.
My truck(below) needs a new rear end.
It has 31 spline axles(the truck is up on blocks with no tranny and the axles are pulled)
I have both of these gears(3.10 or 3.5:1) so thats not the problem. the problem is I can't decide which one to use.
I want decent mileage and acceleration.
The truck has an aftermarket ford 4sp without the granny first gear.
Which one would you choose?

82' Flareside: zoom zoom doesn't even begin to describe it, 2/4 Drop, Soon to have 325hp 351 Clevo (maybe more,in a 3600lb truck)Backed by a C6 with a 2000 rpm stall and a 3.50 9 incher, American Racing AR-23 (series 23) wheels, Upgraded interior, Sony Xplod stereo
Cody, I'd go with the 3.5 axle ratio. I think that's a pretty good compromise for performance and economy on trucks with stock 15" or 16" wheels and tires. I don't know how tall your A-R wheels and tires are, but that would make a difference in selection of axle ratio.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 29-Dec-02 AT 12:42 PM (EST)]Oh they are 15x10s i think, but we have to change tire size because of tire rub with the drop so they are gonna be something like 235s or probably shorter

I have 3.50 to 1's in my 1980 with 31x10.50x15in tires on it. It seems to be a good all-around gear for highway and pulling. I do occasionally have to put it in 4wd low when I am pulling another vehicle out, or doing some manuevering in the field on a steep hill(it has a c6 auto).
