I have to admit that I'm really not a big fan of lowered trucks, I suppose I've seen a few that I've liked (Dono's "old"'99 Ranger, for example), but for the most part I'd rather see them a little higher than lower.
On the other hand, I do see more cars that really don't look too bad at all, having been dropped just a tad. You know, not the ricey-looking dropped, but the kind or lowering that's more subtle and in tune with the vehicle lines.
Anyway, I ran across this photochopped version of the new Ford Five-Hundred and the more I look at it, the more I like it. And that's making me nervous (in a ricer sense ). So I have to ask, what do the rest of you think?
Note the black (not chrome) grill and of course the wheels, too.
That really does look great. Ford 500 optioned with the 3.5 Duratec (when it lands), a manual if they offer it someday, a decent set of 2.5" lowering springs, and a nice clean set of 5-spoke brushed aluminum 17" rims.
I'm thinking different (chromed) wheels, a billet grill, and any color but black. It's too generic "I bought a high end euro-car" out on the left coast. Wonder what could be done with those tail lights? Candy Apple Red pearl, maybe?

im feeling the mettalic candle apple red, billet grill, some polished deep dish tourqe thrust wheels in say the 17-18 inch range, not to tall but wrap em in the widest tires that will fit, slap in a 6 speed manual, with some cross drilled rotors and bremebo calipers. slight tint on the windows say 50 percent or so with the 3.5 and call it say og i dont know fairlane or whats some of the other ones im having a brain fart as to some of fords more excitiing cars
I like a tastefully lowered vehicle, not a slammed one. This car looks good to me, just the right amount. As far as trucks are concerned, I feel that if it's 4X4 it should go up, if it's 4X2 it should go down or remain stock height. I was into lowering cars long before the ricer craze hit, but I usually only go 2"-3", unless it's a race car. -TD
Can't say I like it all that much, I've never been a fan of fender flares on a car. Maybe some different wheels, bigger with wider meat might make the difference.
in that pic, it looks like it's trying to be something it isn't. looks as good as a wing on a taxi-cab.
I don't think SVT could massage the 4.6 in there. A rendition of the Duratec featuring a supercharger would be interesting though. Especially in AWD shoes.
My uncle laughed and said that it defeats the purpose of the 500 by lowering it. I like it...
