SUV with a standard shift avail?

A friend of mine is interested in a new SUV or 4 wheel drive Mini Van. But she wants a standard shift. Without researching all SUV's, can anybody tell me who still makes an SUV or Minivan with a standard shift.?

I think BMW.... Ford used to make an escape with the manual, but it was only 2wd.

when the escape 1st came out the V6 came with auto and the 4 cyl came with the stick. the honda crv and toyota rav-4 used to be availble as std trans but dont know if they still do. the honda element is available with stick, but only comes as a 4 cyl, the only minivans ive ever seen with a stick were early astro and aerostar vans.

Nothing in a minivan, all-wheel-drive or otherwise. In SUV's if it's small and Asian, you can probably still get a stick in it.

RAV 4 still shows 5 speed available.

Searching by mfg isn't all that hard.

I went to www.toyota.com

Click on vehicles, suv/van, then the model.

Click on specifications, and the tranny is about the 2nd or 3rd thing listed.

Almost all mfg have similar sites.

www.ford.com

almost the same as Toyota--vehicle, suv, specs.

It shows the 4 cylinder Escape still available with a 5 speed, and this last weekend I helped my sister in law buy an Escape, and there were several 5 speeds on the lot.

Search on.... and good luck.

Happy Motoring!

If you know where to look, you can get a BMW X5 with a stick(or you could), maybe an X3(but those are damn ugly). Whats wrong with an AWD subaru wagon or something of the like? Does it have to be brand new?

I doubt there's anything out there remotely full-size that's got a stick shifter in it anymore. Especially the unibody/sideways engine stuff.

As noted, you can find the occasional Isuzu Rodeo/Trooper (now they're A$$enders ), Pathy, Hyundais, 4Runner (might be v6 5-speeds out there in the older style), but nothing on the domestic front in full-size and even the Tracker long base is auto-only now.

Either way, those Consumer Reports new model issues should have engine/tranny combos outline in them.

The Asender is a rebadged Chevy Trailblazer.

Isn't the automatic pretty much standard now? Manuals were called standard because they were standard equipment in pretty much everything... not the case nowadays.

It's becoming harder and harder to get a manual in something. Even pickup trucks. I would rather have a manual, I don't think it's hardly offered unless you get a diesel or something without a towing package. One of these days you will only find them in a sports car and that will be it. An auto transmission is getting about as common as power brakes and steering. A/C is getting up there too.
