dead battery
Im having A problem with my 98 Ford Ranger 2.5L it wont stop killing the battery. Its seen that there is a clicking sound in the dash that dont stop. I think its coming for in the dash. i pulled out the radio housen and found the noise to be coming from a little black box. i really dont know what it is or what it dose. i tryed fords parts search but didnt have any luck with the part number on the box. The box is located on the right side in the dash near the glovebox. The numbers on the box are F59f 2CO18 AAS with 0935648 under that number. do u know what it might be and what it dose?

the clicking sound should be from the battery not having enough power to turn the starter. atleast thats how my Pinto is. check your grounds and also the alternator and the whole charging system. when you charge the battery let it charge over night. Maybe you need a new Battery too? who knows

I'm assuming that the clicking comtinues after the key is turned off... Start by removing one fuse at a time until the noise stops, that will pin the short down to a specific circuit, do the same with the fuse under the hood.

The 2C018 is the core part and it is a GEM module. It was used during a period of transition between relay modules and gems and there are several different models used during that year depending on what options are on the truck. If you pull the connector off the box and let it set for a while, you may be able to see if it is causing the battery load.
