Ok now.. I have a 1960 F-100 with the 223 in it.. Im looking for ideas on what can be done to this .. I know that I can get a intake fom Clifford, Exh. from NPD, But what about valve tran upgrades, Dist, and so on so forth.. So who dont what can how would be helpfull..
I notice that.. but it wouldnt let me fix the error.. That last line was part od a IM to someone else and when I hit enter it save it here.. Dont know why.. It was to say So I like to hear ur Ideas...
Mark and RJ, sometimes the BB program completely drops words from a post. I don't know why. I've had to re-write my posts to work around the problem.
Mark, I haven't figured out whether there's been a distibutor made for a 223 that has a mechanical advance and a vacuum advance. So far all I've seen is vacuum advance distributors.
Since a lot of Ford parts interchange, I wonder if the parts from a V8 distributor can be adapted to the 223 distributor to be able to get the mechanical advance.
I'll see what I can figure out using a 292 distributor.
Id decided I didnt want to change the engin.. And I know that a inline 6 can out Torque a V8 anyday with the right setup. Plues there less to mess with If I keep the same engine setup.. Hell I have out pulled a Powerstroke Ford .. Had a buddies of mine call for help becouse his Powerstoke couldnt pull a 55ft Cabin up a ridge here.. And I did it in 1st with np at all.. gearing.. thats what I told him LOL Plues I like the looks of the 6 .. call me wierd.. but I like it
The last production of the 223 was in 64 and it had a spin on oil filter and a PCV system. See if you can get your hands on the PCV parts as this system will double the service life of the motor. Seems that the 64 distributor had dual advance also. We have this setup running in a 54 ford 4 door.
And Thats gain U how much more power or milage on the road echojohn?
Hey Mad man I was just having a little fun. I like my 223 too, I've got a rebuild on it that's just a few years old, and It runs like a champ. But you must have a good rear end to pull big stuff like that, or else I need to put in a new clutch.
We robbed all of our stuff off of a 64 F250 and we also got a paper element air filter housing to boot. With the cold temps up here the oil bath air cleaner sometimes floods you out.
