RIP Jerry Orbach
2) I would guess the arrest is half way because that's how the show is designed.. half is the investigation leading to the arrest. The other half is the proscecution leading to the outcome of the case. You get to see everything from start to finish.
1) How do they make "the sound?" You know which one I mean.
2) Trivia question: why does the arrest occur almost exactly half-way through the show? There's a specific reason for this.
2) Just a guess: The second half of the show is the trial part... ??
RIP Jerry 'Briscoe' Orbach. The wife and I watch almost every day.
Just for the information, his replacement, Dennis Farina, is an ex cop (Chicago I think), so I would think he could bring a lot of authenticity to the role.
when Dick Wolf first thought up L&A, syndication of the re-runs was a major concern. The only shows that local TV stations would buy for re-runs (at that time) were half-hour in length, but Law & Order had to be an hour show. So, by putting the arrest right in the middle, Wolf could "split" the show and sell it as 2, half-hour programs if needed. By the time the show took off, cable outfits like TNT and USANetwork were looking for programming and didn't mind the hour-long format. The cable outfits wound up buying the show "as-is."
I know- WAAAAAAY too much free time, but I still don't know how they make that sound...........
