biggest tire size?

i am about to buy my grandpa's 1980 F-150 2x4, A/T, with the 302. i want to put some "beefy" tires and rims on it. what is the biggest tire size i can fit with altering anything? i found a 3" body lift, but i wanted to see what i could fit stock before i think about the lift. basically let me break it down what i am lookin for. i would like to be able to fit somewhere between 30's and 33's. whatch think? can i fit those stock?

31s would do the job. i put 33s on my 84 f150 2x4, they fit at stock height but that was as big as a person could go, it looked goofy like that until i lifted it 3 inches in the rear and 2 in the front, the width of the tires would probably be best at 10.50

Well, on my 80 F-100 parts truck, I had 34x9.5 super swampers that came off a friends Bronco. They fit ok, rubbed a little on the radius arms when trying to turn tight.

I have an 84 F-150 2wd with 32x11.50 on it. They rub a little at full turn and when I hit a good sized bump they hit the fender.

be careful with thornbirds because they have big lugs that stick out pretty far, but there a good choice tire because they seam to last long and there safe in the rain, and there half decent in the rain.

I have 31x10.50's on the front of my F100 2wd. They look sweet except they hit my front fender when I go over a bump, I only have about 2 inches of clearance.

I put 32X11.50's on my 1980 F-150, they fit fine until you hit the trail. I had to put a 2 1/2 inch body lift on the truck to stop the rubbing.

My 95 has 30/9.50/15's. I've never had any hitting or fender rubbing. I bought a 2 1/2 inch suspension lift for my 87 and blew the motor before installing it. I may put it in the 95.
