I finished my 14 leave spring swap and man I'm bummed. The rear seems softer than my 86 5 leaf F150. I can Bounce on the bumper and it drops quite a bit. Like 2" or a little more. How the crap am I supposed to "loader down" When she "squats with my 150lb butt bouncing lightly on it. I figure she wouldn't move at all. I have 10 from a 78 dually and 4 from my truck. Are the older duallies just THAT soft in the rear????? On the newer ones with only 5 main leaves and 3 overs THEY don't budge at ALLL! and they are 5 leaf packs. My thickness where my center bolt is it 5". That is a FAT pack but a soft one.Maybe she needs like 1,000lbs to REALLY stiffen up???
Depressed!!!!!

Typically, 2 spring packs with the same carrying capacity, one with lots of leafs and one with only a few, the one with more leafs will ride softer, because each leaf is thinner and you don't get to the strongest leafs untill you're loaded.
Maybe take out a few leaves and put in an add a leaf. We did that to a friends F150, and now it is stout. It doesn't budge hardly at all. The add a leaf gives you lift, though, so you may not want it. When we did his, we removed the rear block, and it was about the same heighth.
The spring packs are 5" at the center bolt(thickness)I thought you'al would have corrected me because I posted MANY times on this topic. My depression is turning into anger.OHHHH so much work getting it perfected and now I'm told!!!!aarrrrgggggggggggg! It is the "Thickest pack I've EVER seen on a pickup if it was a 3 leaf each leaf would be 1 3/4" thick. I'm lost I thought thicker ment more load carrying capacity and you guys thought so to beause NO one told me diffrent
OHHH!!!
depession!!!
What else to do? I wanted a truck to haul massive loads. I spent 3 days getting the springs perfect for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try Pohle spring works in spokane wa. they will hook you up with customs to drag just about any thing. they are well priced and well informed. they built me a set to take the camber out of my F250 long box. Ford wanted big $$$$$$ just to get started. I think I paid 150.00 for both fronts & freight.
As mentioned, try loading it down with lots of weight, THEN see how it does. A dually does have good carrying capacity, but if the springs weren't a 'give and take" then the butt would be 8 inches higher then the front.
also..these were OLD springs, don't forget that. Getting upset doesn't help anything, put your anger towards something useful - maybe getting it right. That pack of leaves should do good hauling.
As mentioned, if you want to approach that GVW your brakes will still need some help. Especially on an older truck, I'm sure those brakes have seen better days.
Thanks you'all
Saurian,

We went and bought 45, 80lbs bags of kwikcrete for a small building and being the curious type I loaded them up and it was great. My worries are gone now it just needed a little wieght to "act right"
