Have an 05 F250 w/PSD, auto, 4wd. I took my first road trip last week and about 100 miles into the trip was pulling off to a rest area and the "Check Gauges" flashed on the odometer and the transmission temp gauge spiked from hot to cold several times and the Tow/Haul light flashed. I have been tracking it for 5 days now (repair appointment is scheduled) and the only time it seems to happen is when the RPMs drop below 1200 and there is no load on the engine and as soon as you step on the throttle it will stop. Also have noticed that at full boost the gauge is reading around 32+Psi and I believe that is probably not correct either. Anyone else have this problem or have any ideas???
Had it to the dealership today and the problem is the Transmission Fluid Temperature sensor (TFT). Will take them 6 days to get one from Ford.
According to the Diesel Tech that did the work, when the trans cases are cast and the holes are cut into them they don't always get cleaned completely. This causes the magnetic tip of the sensor to collect the metal shavings and short it out.
