Paint problems
I looked a Black 99 F150 a few weeks ago that had small cracks in the clearcoat all over the body of the truck. They were just big enough to catch a fingernail but were only 1-2mm in length. I talked to another person who had problems with his paint too but worse, the small cracks were starting to flake.
Is this a common problem on fords of this era or are they just a couple of isolated incidents??

I've got the same problem on mine. Yours sounds more severe than mine but I've still got the samll white cracks in the clearcoat in some spots. The guy before me didnt take great car of the paint so I've been workin on restoring it. But I have read that the earlier f-150s (97-99) had "body integrity" problems.

It seems that Ford vehicles from that time period in black had problems with the paint. I know that Ford Contour vehicles in black had problems with their paint. For the Contours it seems that Ford put the black paint on too thick and it cracked eventually. I have a Portifino Blue Contour and the paint is great. It seems to be a problem with darker colors and black especially.
