If it is an Automatic ? make sure to use type-F tranny fluid,

i used a dextron brand that claimed to be ford friendly in my power steering and tranny, started my truck and didnt have power steering anymore, and my tranny started slipping.....i had to purge all that fluid out and refill with type F to get it going right again....i dont know what the big difference is, but its there for sure.......

C6's used Dextron fluid

hey collin ive got all the info we need...but you do not use tranny fluid...youve got a manual so you will use the same fluid for the trans case and the tranny...ill show you the list later on...just dont want you to pick up any type F for the tranny...Type F we will use for the power steerin.

FYI, here are the specs from my shop manual for my '74 F250

SAE 50w engine oil for the NP435 4spd transmission and NP205 transfer case (30w in cold temps)
SAE 140w gear oil for the Front and rear differentials, knuckles
Type F fluid for the power steering system
45/55 antifreeze mix for the radiator
SAE 90 EP for the steering gear
SAE 10, 20, 30 & 40 single viscosity oils for the motor, depending on temps
SAE 10w engine oil for light duty work, multipurpose grease for the chassis

For what it's worth, I'm running 85w140 in the axles, a 50/50 mix of 85w-140 and Lucas Oil Treatment in the knuckles to keep them from leaking, and 75w-90 in the tranny and transfer case because I can't find SAE 50w engine oil.
