Thinking about lifting my truck

Okay folks, here's another question

Some of you may know that I planned on putting my truck on 22's with airbags, so I could slam it at the flick of a switch and drag my frame around the local streets. Recently (within the past 2 days) I've figured that I could get a used Expy for about 250 or less a month, after tax/finance/etc.

So my plan is to lift my truck into the sky, and get maybe a 99 expedition with the 5.4, and slam that into the ground. (How cool would it be to have a RCAB SBED on 35's or 37's and a expy sitting next to it, laying frame and tuckin' 22's?)

Here's my planned setup, SUGGESTIONS PLEASE(Tom, i really wish you were around right now....)

3inch body lift
7.5 fabtech lift
37's

-Now, with a 7.5 fabtech, which one should i get? There's quite a few, and i know some are not compatible with the v6 SBED, and yada yada yada. Anyone have experience with this?

-Once I get the lift installed, I can't run the stock wheels, can i? If that's the case, i have to buy the rims and tires before i install the lift, correct?

-Assuming in install everything myself (except the body lift), how much money am I looking at?

Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.
I'm not a crazy muddin' enthusiast, so long travel, double shock, all the fancy stuff isn't important to me. It's more of a look with capability issue.

sounds cool dude , but with that high of a suspension lift it might not be smart to do a bodylift. the body lift creates more body roll and more danger of flipping. not to mention it won't handle worth a crap.

Maybe just a 6" with a 3" body lift?

Or if i stick with the 7.5", is 35" the biggest I can fit?

Anyone else have any suggestions? I'm open to whatever anyone might have to say.

fordtruck i have a 2wd

I'm definitely leaning towards the 6 inch fabtech and 3 inch bodylift, with 37's. If i can fit 38's, i'll do that.

I know i want it BIG and TALL, and 6-7 inches isn't going to cut it. I definitely want bigger than a 35.

Any suggestions as to how to do this? Is my plan of 6susp/3body good?

fordtruck, do you have any pictures of your 97 with the 12 inch lift?

3.5 and 7.5 are all fabtech make for 2wd unless they just came out with a 6 inch 7.5 kit consits of 3.5 drop spindle 4 inch springs
and 2 new a arms there is a truck near me with the 7.5 and 3 body he clears 40's but i think a 2wd that high is goofy
my 2wd has 3.5 lift and 33's just to get it off the ground a lil bit but if ya gonna go that high do it with a 4x4 yea i have pics of my 97 with 12 inches email me at num1fordfan@hotmail

well if your gunna do any off roading i would not recomend a fabtech. but if your planing on the look of a huge lifted truck thats a street queen then the olny way to get a 12 inch lift is to straight axel it. then u can go 20 inches if u wanted.

Fire inside, I am going to do a similar setup, but 7.5", 315/75r16 (just about 35x12.50), but throwing on 4.56 gears and FMS LSD.

anyone know a site for a gear calculator, so I can figure out the effective ratios and all that mumbo jumbo?
