Unfortunately, you'll have to send it back to get updated. Just capture the code and file numbers off it, call them up, and they'll work with you on it. I did the same with mine, but had it back within a week.
I have to send mine back too. When you contact Superchips they'll ask for the error codes displayed, where and when you bought the programmer, and have you provide a copy of your original purchase receipt when the unit is send back. They will then provide you with a "return authorization code" that you'll display on the box you ship to them. There is no cost to re-program the SCMT, however they will ask you to send $10.50 to cover the cost of returning the unit to you.
sv250, I do understand your frustration with receiving a new toy - presumably for Christmas and then not being able to play with it for several more weeks
Lots of companies and shops close down for two weeks around the holidays. SC being closed is nothing unusual. So while I'm sorry that you'll have to wait, I am happy for all the SC employees and their families and glad that they'll be able to spend more time together this holiday season.
Trust me it is worth the wait. When you do finally get the tuner program installed it will be like Christmas morning all over again the first time you put your foot in it with the Economy or HP tune loaded
I had the same thing happen to me too. The good folks at superchips needed just a little imformation like the error code; where I bought it, and a copy of the orginal receipt. I got it back in seven days and installed it; wow what a difference! Sure glad I sucked it up and went for it.
Every time I hear about one not working out of the box makes me lean more toward predator and online updates.
I had no problems with my SCMT on my 7.3 but I will not be a happy camper if I have to keep mailing it back and paying to do so after spending that much money. My .02 cents
Some of the Predator guys have had the same issue and complained about having to get the cables and power supply and do the upgrade of their new out of the box Predator to the latest version.
The nice thing with the Predator is that you can do it with files off the Internet. It would be nice if some day SC gets there too.
My SCMT worked fine out of the box but I know that I will need to send it back for an upgrade if/when I get the latest flash from Ford.
SC does a good job I think of keeping up with the flashes but since they they rely on users sending back copies of the new flashes to update their program they will always be a step behind Ford. Then once they have a copy of the new Ford flash and have verified a new tested SC release version it does take time to incorporate that into production.
