'98 Factory Alarm
My parent's bought one.. The alarm is useless, nobody cares about them really here anyways. The way we keep it turned off is to manually lock the doors. Don't use the electric locks, or it will be activated. Push the little rods down by hand and close the doors. You should notice that the alarm light isn't on or blinking anymore.

'98 Factory Alarm
I've got a '98 XLT 4x4, and I haven't had any problems with the alarm. The only time it goes off is when I don't unlock the door with the key (I reach in and hit the unlock button) and then open the door.
When does yours go off? Just out of the blue?
