OK, got another problem with my 88 Bronco II, 2.9. Driving down the road at 55-60, every couple of miles(sometimes more often) the engine cuts out for literally the blink of an eye and then it's back to normal. I've run the codes and get a system pass. I changed both fuel filters. Fuel pressure is 36 psi and when I start it it drops the 3-10 psi like it's supposed to. Checked vacuum hoses and they are OK, no leaks. After I had the oil changed, it died on me at a stoplight, but it started right up. It started to cut out more often then but after 15 minutes driving it went back the every couple of miles. Any ideas?

I'd suspect an electrical problem, probably an intermittent open circuit in some critical line upstream of the injectors and, perhaps, upstream of the coil.
Most likely the module on the distributor. Very common failure. IIRC they are fairly cheap at your local Autozone, Advance, whatever and fairly easy to replace.
Your KOER fuel pressure is way to low, should be 28-38psi.
Ken, sorry I did not make it clear. The 3-10 psi was the drop in pressure stated in the manual after starting the engine. The fuel pressure before starting was 36 psi. After starting it was around 32-34psi. Sorry for the confusion.
Thanks for the responses. I'll look into the module after the weekend.
Well, still no go. Replaced the module and the pickup coil and the problem persists. It's been at a shop for a day and a half and they can't find anything wrong. When the engine dies it starts right up again and no codes are present. I'm thinking of replacing the "brain box". I'll go over the wiring and look for breaks that could cause an intermittent failure, but other than that I'm stumped.
Time to close this one. I replaced the ECU relay and it ran fine for a day. The wife and I went into town for lunch and the thing died and never started. It was giving the same symptoms as before also. Of course this happened on Suday and that was in the middle of the bad weather here in SoCal. Had it towed to Ford so they could run the diagnostic on it the following day. You got it Ken. It was the fuel pump relay. So far so good. It's about time to buy a real commuter car and let this one rest on her almost 360,000 miles.
