Hi everyone, I have a 2001 F250 CC with the 7.3 auto. I have a couple of questions someone may be able to help me with. First question, Should the arm for the ebpv be easy to move? I haven't put alot of pressure on mine, but it seems to be stuck. I live on the gulf coast, and this morning is the coldest its been here (28 degrees). I never notice any difference in the sound when i fist crank it up in the mornings, so not sure its working. Second question. I went out and started it this morning, it was slow turning over, but did fire up and lope very bad then died. cranked her again, same thing. 3rd time i gave it just a little fuel, it started up, and the hi idle kicked in taking it to about 1000 rpm and ran as smooth as it usually does. I did not plug in the block heater over night. Any ideas what may have caused the loping? Today is the first freezing temps that i have started it since i got the truck 6 months ago. 60000 miles, fresh oil and oil filter, I haven't changed the fuel filter yet, will do that today. No additives in the fuel yet either. Any advice would be great , thanks.
To repeat another individual on this site, strange things happen to vehicles when it gets cold. I would put a fuel stabilizer/anti-gel into the fuel tank and run the truck to get it all through the sytem. Your stations there probly don't winterize the fuel. Might just be a little thickness to the fuel but nothing to worry about after you treat the fuel.
Not sure how easy it is to move but if your hi idle kicked in then the EBP valve is working. I have had the same situation with the truck dying on startup. Only did it once and the temp was just below freezing. I agree with Grinch fuel additive sure helps.
Synthetic oil also helps A TON. Mobil delavac 5-40. I recently changed mine to synth and it made a world of diference. the oil stays fluid in cold weather and you can go a whole lot more miles on an oil change. kind of a spend "mod" but definetly worth it.
Well i filled up and put the fuel additive, also checked the batteries after the slow cranking this morning, they were both bad, about 400 cca, so i got my truck 2 new ones for Christmas. Got her all cleaned up at the car wash, dang, I thinks she's making out better than me for Christmas lol. Thanks for the replies guys!!!
