Help please...... won't start

Hello, My 99 F-250 powerstroke will not start today. Replaced GPR and glow plugs 2 weeks ago been doing good. It's been sitting for three days, because i just put new ball joints and axle seals in her. Last night after complection of the new parts it started fine ran about 5 minutes then shut it off. But today i went to start it up and she just cranks no smoke or nothing. There's a clicking noise coming from the dash when i try to start it, after cranking about 15 seconds she started i let it run about 1 minute then shut it off and tried to start it again nothing.......Any ideas?

The dash clicking is always the clue that your batteries are run down. With luck they're just run down from the fact that you've been starting it and not driving it enough to recharge them from the start. If so, they'll come back after a charge. Or if they're the original batteries from '99, it's probably time to replace them.

definitely take a voltmeter to those batteries anything less than 12 volts means their not fully charged, also diesels that aren't new do need to be cranked at a certain speed to start I've got a '96 and if it's turned over slow it wont start, it's part of the compression leakdown equation, if the engine is turning over slow the compression leaks past old rings and valves too fast to be built up enough for ignition, Btw the V Reg system on my truck doesn't even put out enough voltage to charge the batts for a couple of minutes, when you get the truck running again leave it long enough to give those batts a good charge

I agree with batteries, it may sound like it is cranking strong but the batteries are not producing enough juice to fire. If you do replace them, do them both at the same time.

Actually that's the glow plugs staying on for two minutes, which they do every time you start the truck (regardless of what the Wait To Start light does.) So in addition to the need to run the truck for a while to make back up the whomping load a diesel engine starter requires, you aren't even getting any charging going for about 2 minutes to start with!

100% right

WOW.... you guys hit it right on the money (thanks FROBOZZ). I went out to check the batteries, upon unhooking them, I noticed one of the connections was pretty dirty, cleaned it, hooked it up and the old girl started right up....
Thanks so much..............
