Battery Changeout-Keyless Entry Pad

I started to open the keypad as per the owners manual but didn't want to go any further until I got some reassurance from someone that's already done this.
I removed the black outside cover and this exposed a white plastic membrane the contains the keypad. I started to pry out this plastic membrane but it was not coming out easy so I put it back together and decided to ask the question here.

Will it take some force to remove this membrane ?? This membrane should separate from the black plastic that's adhered to the door, correct ??

Please advise,

Smile R U sure it is wireless?

My son-in-law's key pad and mine are different on our 04s.

Mine is less than a 1/4" thick, probably closer to 3/16"; his is somewhere around 3/8".

A document for the 05's indicated that they were going to 'wired' door keypads vs. wireless. The picture of the wired keypad looked like my thin keypad.

I suspect my son-in-laws is the wireless unit; thicker with room for the battery. I believe mine is wired.

Son-in-law's truck was built in Nov 03; mine was built in Dec 03.

Point is, be careful that you have the wireless version with the battery and your not popping apart the wired version.

Hopefully you are under 36K miles and the dealer can worry about it for you.
