Question Update on Vibration problem??

Like I said it before, the U Joints are ok! now my question is I got under the
truck, and I grabed the driveshaft and I moved it left to right up and down,
and I noticed a movement where the driveshaft joints the trans.,there is
a play in the driveshaft/transmition, is this a normal mechanical way ??, or if it's not, what can be wrong???

This does not sound normal at all, unless the driveshaft is sliding back and forth, which doesn't seem like it is. If it is loose though it is not normal.

is your truck 2 wheel drive? if so at the back of the trany is a dampener! when those go bad they cause a vibration that would leave you to think the u-joints are bad! also don't rule out a bad pinon bearing in the rear end!

Kevin are you talking about the rear axle bearings?? if so, I lifted the rear of the car with the parking brake ON, and I moved the wheels in-out by the edge of the tires and them wheels are ok, no play at all ??,

the bearings in the rear that i have seen go bad are the pinion bearings! those are the 2 bearings that where your drive shaft connects to the rear axle yoke! the yoke is connected to the pinion!

the best way to check this problem! is put truck on jack stands in the rear! secure the front tires!!!!! run truck with it in gear on the jack stands and get under it to find the problem! not a safe way> but sometimes thats what it takes! if you find the rear axle to be bad it may be just as easy to buy say a 100-150 used axle then to redo bearings!

I know them bearings, and there is a bunch of bearings in the rear axle, but I guess a bad bearing would
make some loud noise when driving??, and I don't hear any bearing noise.
Does anyone knows if any part of the driveshaft or rear axle flex or bend a little as you move you steering
wheel???, cuz like I said before at highway speed when I moved the steering the vibration gets worst????
maybe the problem it's somewhere else under the car??

El conquistador,
To be honest, not yet cuz of the holidays, but I will soon!!, at the same time gonna ask them to check for any unusual play in the driveshaft+rear axle, it's a lot easier
to check it on the hoist!!

Q:
If I'll need a new rim what's best for the $ wallet??, I heard that them rims can be
turn straight???, or buying just one it's gonna looks ugly, I think will be very dificult
to find the same style??, now how much$$ will cost a set of 4 basic aluminum for
this truck??? 225/70/14. if too much $$$, maybe a good set of used ones???

you better check your front wheel bearings! you may have a bad bearing there if the vibration and noise goes away when turning slightly?

NO, NO,
There is nothing wrong with the front axle, 100%, the problem is somewhere on the
rear axle or driveshaft, and I'm almost sure is no problem with them rims, but I'm
gonna have them check anyway, why I said this??, cuz wheels were rotated many
times before front to back, back/front etc, and never felt steering vibration, if any
of the rims were bad I could it felt it when wheels were change to the front axle.
my personal opinion, I could be wrong?? and I don't feel any vibration driving at
street speed, only at hwy speed around 70 or more mph.

cadriver,
i didnt mean to sound pushy about the rims, i was just curious. i understand, your busy. this is the craziest time of the year.
if you did need new rims, a salvage yard would be a good place to start.

i cant remember, did you ever pull the cover off the differental and check the gears to make sure they were solid. just trying to brainstorm.

keep us posted

Your'e not pushy at all my friend!!
I was replying to Kevin anyway, in a good manner, just want to make sure
that they know the problem isn't the front axle, I hope did no harm with the
topic.
