I have had my truck for a few months now and have attempted to use the seat heaters on a couple of separate occasions. Unfortunately I have been very dissatisfied with the performance on both the driver’s and passenger’s side of the truck.<O</O
The seat heaters seem to work intermittently; they heat up for a few seconds then stop working completely. Sometimes they do not work for up to 15 minutes then they get hot and turn off for another 15 minutes.<O</O
<O</O I had a 99 GMC that had great heated seats, I expected a but more from a 50k truck...<O</O
Sorry to hear that. My '03's seats are real bun warmers I've read other posts from guys with '04s and it did sound like the seats don't have as high of a heat output as the '03 did.
Don't know why they changed it. Probably had too many people complaining that the seats were too hot??
Mine too. I have had them take up to an hour to heat up and then they shut off for a while. Not to mention you have to have pressure on the seat for them to come on at all. When I remote start the truck the seat heater light comes on but of course it does nothing till you sit on it and still takes forever after that!!!
Maybe there is a way to jumper the pressure switch in the seats???

It's a pity that they don't put the same seat heaters in the PSD as they do in the Expy, fully adjustable (0-5) heat and COOL....

When I bought the truck I didn't like the fact that the elec heat doesn't automatically shut off when the vehicle is shut down. A co-worker has an earlier model Expedition and his do. We then decided that the fact they stay on was a bonus if you install the remote start (which I haven't).
I do let the truck warm up and likewise figure there must be a pressure swx as nothing is prewarmed when I get in. My 04's seats are warm about 2-3 minutes down the road. I also will have it 'on' and forget about it then later when it cycles you become very aware; so there is some sort of thermostatic control as well.
GM currently allows control between the seat back and bottom with multiple settings for the bottom on my buddy's 03 Chevy.
The tech at ford dealer was able to tweak mine somehow, they work much better now

alfama351, if there is any way you could find out how he did this I'm pretty sure there a bunch of guys with cold butts that would be very appreciative.
The problem with mine is once they heat up to the point the thermostat kicks off, they have to cool down to much before they come back on. The thermostats need to be adjusted up on the low side to come back on sooner. Maybe there's an adjustment(limit switches) but only a Ford tech would know. Be nice to have a setting in-between.
I'm not sure what the tech did, i know that i was in a hurry and he rushed thru it, I had the truck in to replace the intercooler tube, and I happened to remember that the seats weren't working properly. The tech told me that he did something with the comp. It got better right away. Next time I go in I'll ask the tech.

I was considering adding this option to my truck if I could get a clean factory install. After the hit and miss posts I don't know if it would be worth it. 15 minutes in the morning on cold leather can change your mind.

I think the option is worth it, I just wish there was some control over the temp setting. I use it all year long. If I turn it on after I've set in the seat for a couple hours on a road trip it helps to keep my back muscles loose. A little heat seems to make a big difference after a trip of a few hundred miles.
What I have noticed on my wifes 05 KR is that the temp of seats appears to be time to the interior temp guage. When the temp is set to 68-70 the seats have low heat and a long off-on cycle. When the temp is turned up to 74+ the seats seem to have a longer on-off cycle and get hotter. Just an observation.
