My 04 stays on as long as the button has been depressed but the 03 shuts off after 15 minutes. I have been told that the "stay on" feature is to help out those who have remote starters and want a warm tush when they get in the truck. If if was only so easy to convince them to do many other things to improve eh?!!

"want a warm tush when they get in the truck." Unfortunately it doesn't work that way even though the light is on on the seat heater button. The seats will not heat unless you are sitting on them (which probably closes a pressure switch) Sure would be nice to be able to make this switch permanently closed so they would heat up with remote start. Most likely a project for warmer weather.

The tech told me that he did something with the comp. It got better right away. Next time I go in I'll ask the tech.
The heaters are controlled by the computer?? Wow, I never woulda figgered.

Thanks for checkin when you can.

Maybe mine stays on because the harness under the seat which controls the pesky seat belt warning light and chime is unplugged?

None of this will probably help those that already have factory installed seat heaters, but I guess you never know. I found my 03 on the lot, it had absolutely everything I wanted except heated seats. Figured I could live without them. First cold day I changed my mind. Went back to my dealer to ask about having them installed and was told for $400 per seat they could do it. Or, the guy said, you can take it down to the same place we take them and have it done for $200 per seat.

The place was an upholstery place here in town. Did a great job. The switch in on the side of each seat. Not sure where the switch is on factory installed heaters, but if you didn't know better, you wouldn't know mine were after market. Mine are either on or off. And they do get warm in a hurry. I wish they had a thermostat sometimes, but after reading this post, guess I'm better off with what I have.

I guess the point of my posting is this. Maybe you can check with a local shop and they might be able to bypass the pressure switch, adjust the thermostat or something.

Or, if you really hate them, maybe they can put the same ones in that I ended up with.....

They are going through menopause (sp). Sorry I'm no help but think the switch location is H.S. etc has a lot of room for improvement. The people that die looking down to see if they are on will never be able to tell Ford. And what is wrong with a adjustable thermostat on them. It is the Holiday season or I'd complain some more.

This was one of my complaints with the 03. The engine would warm up before the seats would. The 05 is a little faster in the seat warm-up department, but not as quick as any of the cars I have owned or still own. I do not like the stay on feature, I never remember to turn them off. My wife NEVER turns them off. Not sure of the pressure switch, I will have to take your word for it, I never prewarm the truck for extended periods of time.

I can't wait to see this show up on one of the GM webpages.

'05 heated seats work fine; temp seems to be just right. Need to remember to turn off because on the restart they are still operational. The '02 Odyssey had a 2 position switch: start with high and sw to low, your bum temp indicated when! Like the FMC heated seats

Mine (in an '04) work well. They heat quickly and I have to turn them off so I don't fry the goods. Problem is where the swtiches are located: you can't see the lights without taking your eyes off the road! And I'm really surprised they stay on forever. Wife's car has two settings on hers: high or low, and they time off after a while. Plus, controls for both buttons (with lights, red for high, yellow for low) are on the dash. MUCH better.

You won't have to go to the Chevy forum to find anything like that...

There are many here, who given the opportunity to blame ANYTHING upon the 6.0, will happily do so...in a rapid fashion.

I agree. I have them on all my vehicles and use it all year round, for the same reason.

Huntercgr, I finally went back to dealer last week for the trans recall, and some other issues, and was able to ask the tech if indeed the heated seats were adjusted thru the computer, like I posted on # 10, but he doesn't seem to recall, and he doesn't even think it can be done through the comp, but I know for sure that was what he told me when he was done with the truck back then, anyway sorry for not being able to get more info.
