Brake light switch - '94 Ranger....

Anyone else experienced this? I've had to replace the brake light switch several times on our '94. What happens is with light pressure on the pedal, the lights will only work for a second. In slippery conditions, I've locked up the rear wheels since the rear anti-lock system "thinks" the brakes are not on. A new switch cures this for a while then it starts up again. Almost seems like there's some wear in components in the brake pedal assembly, where the switch mounts.. but I don't see anything abnormal. Any suggestions??

Are you replacing with Ford OEM or using "other" brands from popular parts suppliers?

Good question... I think I've used aftermarket switches... can't really remember since it's happened several times over a 10+ year period. The truck's got 243,000 miles on the clock. I may just go get a switch from the Dealer and see what happens...

check for a bad ground or a short in the wires also. Dont know what would cause the switch to go but arcing since there is nothing really in it except a spring and some contacts.
