Torque Specs
Hi, does anyone know the tq specs for the pully off the crankshaft on a 97 4.6? Thanks

If you mean the crankshaft pulley bolt, I've seen two approaches. One is to torque it to 125 ft-lbs. The other is to tighten it somewhere in the neighborhood of 60 ft-lbs, and then tighten it 90 degrees.
If you have a Ford bolt, it is TTY, so a new one should be used. I think I paid $3-$4.

I checked and the one approach is to tighten to 66 ft-lbs, loosen one full turn, tighten 37 ft-lbs and then tighten another 90 degrees.

Look at the head of the bolt. If it says 10.6 on it its not a torque to yield and if you follow the specs for a torque to yield bolt it will come out.

OK thanks guys. My brother and I havent tore into it yet cause my dad thinks it will be pressed on or have a key way. Does it?

Yes it has a key way and it is pressed on so you will need a balancer puller to get it off.

There is a key. You need to get the bolt out first and then use a pulller to get it off. Make sure you remove the washer before putting the puller on.
