They generally do not recommend it on a standard, but have seen them advertised.

There are remote starters that are specifically designed for manual transmissions. They include extra precautions to insure that the transmission is left out of gear before arming the system for the next restart.

Do not use a standard remote start for an automatic on a manual transmission vehicle due to safety considerations.

I am thinking of getting one of these. I looked around and would like to know if the bulldog is really that easy with the t harness. looks like the just two taps the brake and ground.

Define easy. I put a bulldog in my 1998 F-150. If I had used those cheapo tap connectors, had been more flexible, then yes it would have been easy. But that aside, not too bad. The bulldog wiring info that comes with your starter(I have RS1300E) is excellent. Get the T-Harness to save yourself even more wire connecting time. I think I would remove the 2 front seats next time to give myself more room. I think 4 T55 or TP55 bolts on each, and voila more room to work.

I am thinking of getting the RS1300E also. My truck is a 1997 do I need the 791 module to work with the current factory alarm. My keys do not have transponders. I am lost on that one.

Nopers, you don't need the 791 if you don't have the chip in your key(anti-theft system). FWIW, I got my RS1300E at WAPGEAR.COM for a good price. My starter works for at least the 800 feet away it claims. My only problem is to make sure I turn down the radio and turn on the defroster and heat when I park at night so it is toasty and defrosted the next morning.

When I installed my Bulldog remote starter I used the T harness they sell which made it alot easier. You still have to tap in to the brake switch, parking lights, install a hood switch, and wire the 791 module if you have the antitheft with transponder.
