I understand there are two kinds of the window wind deflectors or vent visors.. The old kind that tape on and the new in channel type..
To me the in channel seems it would be better but wanted some other ideas before deciding..
So what do you all have abd like ??

I have the ones that go in the channel, I did not want something taped on my truck
I had the channel ones I did not care to much for them and then one blew out on the freeway. I now have the stick on ones I like them better but everyone has there own likes and dislikes.
I have a friend that runs a truck accessory shop. They're constantly selling/replacing tape on deflectors. They always suggest in-channel type. Properly installed, they'll last longer and look better. Price is negligalbe.
I have them, just on the front door windows, and love'em.
I installed the in channel type on all four doors in 45degree (F) weather. I used a hair dryer to get the adhesive good and warm once they were on the truck to help with the bonding and then left the windows up for a week. I havent had any problems with them falling off and it hasnt been above 35F since I installed them (in Grand Rapids Michigan). I like them because they are a bit more subtle than the stick on kind and since they are in the door channel water cannot leak through the tape. I figured that if I ever have to replace a lost one, then so-be-it. They are pretty inexpensive (got mine through Cabelas.com).

Reason: Mispelled word
I chose the in channel type. The place in Houston I got them from was great, the guy offered to install them, took the truck in, and 5-10 minutes later we were done. So dont know anything about the installation. They look much better than the stick on. We notice other trucks now with the stick on, these look more "integrated" with the truck. Got them on all 4 windows. Hope this helps.
The window doesnt bind up, but it does slow down when it reaches the deflector. Closes up nice and tight. The only concern I have is IF I ever remove them, will the rubber in the window channel be compressed and not provide a tight seal anymore? Time will tell I suppose. I love the wind deflectors as I like to drive with the windows cracked even in the winter. They do a good job of keeping the rain and snow out.
Both work good ,i had the channel type but didnt like the noise that the window made when it hit ,so i switched to the others, hey everyones got there own choices!
ive had the "tape on" kind for 2.5 years now.. i did replace the sticky tape at the corner of one a 6 months back..., besides that have been un-remarkable... very nice.... i had them painted to match the truck too.. there very nice. you can see them in this pic, painted to match on all four windows...
I have the in channel ones and the front widows are both noisy.. Don't know about the back ones-never been in the back seat while driving. I'm trying to get in touch with the manufacturer to see what is the problem and what I can do about it. Except for the whistling I really like them.
I have tape on deflectors on my 93 F-150. They were on the truck when I bought it in August of 1995. I have never had any problem with them and I have lived in many different climates (Eastern VA, Tulsa, OK, Atlanta, GA, and Houston, TX). The original tape is still holding fine 9+ years later. I purchased the replacement for this truck a month ago, 03 F-250 PSD, and have yet to decide what to use for wind deflectors on it. As someone mentioned earlier, both will work. Comes down to personal preference.
get the Weather Tech in channel ... they are by far the best built and looking ones on the market. they are so well designed you can hardly see them on the truck see my gallery for a pic...
