Stud Girdles
At what point do you need stud girdles for the rocker arms? I've seen them before and I would imagine that they help stablize the valve train with high lift cams? Are they just like main girdles for the mains?

Basically they are the similar. They both stiffen up parts that otherwise have flex. The more accurate your valve train events the more power the engine can make. Flexing kills performance. Granted these engines that utilize girdles are high performance engines.

Mild street engines do not need girdles, it would have to be a real beast to need girdles. Kind of like the engines that get chained down to prevent them from tearing themselves out of the mounts.

Actually, it depends on how stiff your valve springs are. As long as there is no spring binding, the high lift itself would not cause the studs to flex. Another reason for girdles, would be if you swap to an increased rocker ratio over stock, which causes more pressure on the studs.
