I cant help you with the blow by question but I can give you a link to the gauge installation.
Here you go:

If you have that much blow by it sounds like you have low compression. How many miles do you have?

Your right that is not very much miles for a PSD to have a lot of blow by. Have you had someone tell you that you have to much blow by or how did you come to this conclusion? Do you have oil blowing out your dipstick?

Welcome to the site!
Diesels have a good amount of blow by compared to a gasser. So if you are not familiar with diesels you might be seeing normal blow by. Do you still have the stock air box on the truck? If you do there is a good chance the engine is dusted. If you do have the stk air box, take the intake apart starting from the air box on to the turbo and look for signs of dust or grit. Oily film is ok just not grit in the oily film. Look at the leading edge of the turbo fins. They should be nice and smooth not looking like they were sand blasted. You can do a compression test to verify cylinder pressure but it is more involved compared to a gasser or other diesels. Oh and for your gage question, get a EGT (exhaust gas temp) and get rid of your lousy flattened out down pipe. Take a look at it along the passenger side of the bellhousing from under the truck and you will see just how flattened out it is.
Check this site out it is a wealth of PSD info. (click on "tips and tricks")

my mechanic told me that it had too much blow by. there is oil coming out of the dipstick hole. the blow by pushes my dipstick out. i was told that my turbo pedestal was cracked or something. it is spitting oil out of the hole where the actuator rod is in the pedestal. i aint big on diesels yet, but im going to diesel school next semester. and, does anyone know how to make it blow more black smoke?

If you are blowing oil out the dipstick I would say you have to much blow by as well. You can always do a compression test to verify.

Yes you are right pyro and EGT are the same. I had a brain fart. I meant to say trans temp if you have a auto. My webpage has the probe locations for the gages. You do have way too mush blowby pressure. The EBPV actuator rod seals are not uncommon to fail. You might look into pulling the turbo and pedestal to r/r all the o-rings and doing the down pipe at the same time.
Unless you are towing real heavy and on long grades you will not see any benefit to a intercooler. My 96 is running a TS 4 position chip(stock - "give her all its got"), 10k,IDM mod, Tymar, 4" straight pipe, FPR shimmed to 65psi, Map line regulated to 19psi and I can see 32-34 # of boost and I still do not exceed 1300 deg EGT on the longest of grades pulling 18,000 GCVW, and I do not have a intercooler. But the key is keeping the rpm's up around 2500 on the long pulls.
Check your intake for signs of dusting, and see if the school you will be going to can do a compression test.
A chip will make it smoke a bit but you are limited by the stock injectors on how much fuel you can inject. Black smoke is not a sign of making big H/P it is just unused fuel being waisted. Yeah I know it looks cool but it just tells a good diesel tech that that particular truck needs a bigger turbo, smaller injectors, or NoS.

If you're blowing the dipstick out, I can say without a doubt that you definatley have ring seal issues.
I wouldn't be worring about how to get more power out of that engine... I'd be wanting to see if that diesel school you're going to go to can do a re-build on a T444E, cuz yours definatley AIN'T healthy.
