429 help

Hi guys I want 2 build a extra motor for my truck.I have a 429 ThunderJet in it now.I like it so much i want another lol i found my CBVE-E heads now i found a dove block will that be ok with heads i have?Also if block works will crank 4U still be ok.And will stock rod #C8VE-E still be ok ?And will stock size push rods be ok .I have a 78 mint 4x4 so i dont need 2 much heat, a tick over stock works great lol Thx Slick

I will answer your head question with my opinion.

The heads you say are CBVE, if they are really C8VE, then they are fine. The C8VE, C9VE and D0VE are just about the same except mabey 3cc difference in the combustion chambers.
With some porting to the exhaust side only, and a 3 angle valve job they will make great street heads.
They should have the screw in studs that make changing to an adjustable valve train easier.

I have 2 sets of C9VE heads and 2 sets of D0VE heads.

The block is a shorter deck hight than the 1971 and up blocks and will create a little more compression. I am not sure about the oil pan rails on that block.
Be sure to use a pre 71 timing chain and gear set.

It all helps and yes heads are C8VE lol ya motor i have in my truck now rox.im used 2 driveing a 250 SD ford sold it and i found a mint 4x4 78 Ranger,old truck runs goog with that 429 in her lol.Wife says its a mid life thing lol hey Thx again

I have one of these. But mine has a inline 6 (300) in her. Truck is in bad shape, but it still runs. I also own a 68 Thunderbird with a 429 in it.
