If you don't want to put the switches in, you can pull the fuse for the fuel pump and take it with you when you have to park in a bad place.

Being from chicago and a victim of auto theft.........here's an excellent device that will keep those tow trucks from making a clean get away. If your car is rwd, always park with your front wheels cocked away from the curb.....makes it harder to pull car from the curb and tow. if it's fwd, you can purchase a device that actually ties into your brake system......when you park, you press down on the brake and flip a lever or hit a switch (different devices) and all your brakes will be applied.......not just that weak parking brake. These are all defeatable, but will make a tow truck bandit work harder and possibly pass you up for an easier target.
