Happy holidays all! I am looking for a nice Christmas gift here. Below is data I pulled from a scanner while troubleshooting why my '96 Aerostar 4.0L engine runs rough. Can anyone help me interpret? Who here speaks this language? Do I have a bad O2 sensor and EGR? Here it is:

I'll give it a shot. What kind of milage are we working with? May have a bad plug wire but....I would start by looking at that PO401. There are a few threads on here about that as they seem to be a problem, not with the valve but with the passages getting plugged. The "system lean, bank 1" doesn't appear to make sense as your O2 on bank 1 (O2S11) appears to be switching normally. Although the O2 on bank 2 (O2S21) appears dead.Do you know what O2S22 or SF Trim 1 would be? How about more details on "runs rough"? Is it rough all the time, at idle, when giving it some gas...?
Your Long Term fuel trims at 25% tells me that it runs way too lean. The PCM is trying to richen it up all the time. A common cause of that and the rough idle and P0171 is a vacuum leak, quite often the intake gaskets on the top and bottom of the fuel rail.
If that snapshot was at an idle then the DPFE reading is too high which causing the P0401. A stuck EGR valve can cause that and also cause stalling, rough idle etc.
If the EGR valve is ok and lot stuck open or leaking then the most common cause of a P0401 is a bad DPFE sensor.
Your MAF reading is borderline too low too which can also point to a vacuum leak.

Good points Racerguy. It sure is looking a lot like a stuck valve (EGR), especially with those symptoms and that much milage. Probably an origonal one too. After you get that worked out, clear your codes and see if the others come back. ( Other than the P1000 that is)
Racerguy...We have an argument going about this at work and I have yet to try,so maybe you can answer it. Can the codes be cleared merely by unplugging the battery, or do you have to use the scan tool? I think the battery works because when we remove the cables to clean them we always end up with a P1000, but others swear that you need the tool.
brattlery? umm what kind of translation was that? It sounds like something off www.engrish.com
Yes the codes will clear by disconnecting the battery for a few minutes. The P1000 means that since the computer was reset not all the "monitors" in it are complete. The engine control systems each have a monitor. They are constantly checking the systems to make sure they are working right.
