I have a 1990 Bronco that originally had a 351 in it. The person I bought it from had the engine replaced with a used 302. I don't have any idea what year this engine is or what it came out of. Is there anywhere on the engine that has the year on it? It has the big aluminum (intake?) sitting on the top of the engine that says 5.0. I have a real hard time getting parts for it.
Hmm, I don't know if the year is on it somewhere or not. I think they do have some sort of casting no. on them but i haven't the foggiest where you would find it.
I have the 302 in my 1988 F-150 though, its the 5.0 also, and I have no problem getting parts for it. There are some items that you have to get directly from Ford but we've replaced a lot of stuff on mine and gotten the parts from Napa, Checker, Carquest, etc.
It's an everyday driver so I have to take the parts off then catch a ride to the parts store and match them up. I just replaced the starter, and thermostat, with a little hassle (these backwoods parts stores don't help much). I need to check the timing on this thing and give it a good tune up but I don't know exactly what the timing is supposed to be. Maybe replace pcv valve and little things like that.
