Got my truck running, put the truck in park and drive and hit the OD button mounted in the dash and I have no light, I do not think it is engaging. Anyone know whats wrong or how I should go about troubleshooting it? Thanks.
The OD OFF light will normally blink one time when the ignition switch is first turned on. This is a good check to see if the indicator lamp is ok. If it doesn't blink then you either have a bad lamp or a wiring/connector problem. I'd start by checking the behind the dash connections to the OD SWITCH.
The best way to check the OD switch operation is to drive the truck at about 50 MPH and push the OD switch and keep speed at 50 MPH. You should be able to hear the change in engine speed as you shift in or out of overdrive. If it is shifting properly, and the light does not work, then you probably have a burned out indicator light. If it's not shifting then you need to start your trouble shooting at the OD SWITCH.
If you don't find a loose connection, post what you find and I'll get out my WIRING DIAGRAM and tell how to check the SWITCH.
