91 f-250 3/4 ton 7.3

ok first the details
will not downshift when you pull out

floats between 3rd and 4th
only way to get it to downshift is to manualy pull it down to 1st

changed the speed sensor on the tranny
adjusted the throttle position sensor
here are the codes it's throwing
23 tp sensor out of range
99 idle not learned
56 trans oil temp
49 1-2 shift error
59 2-3 error
62 3-2 error
69 3-4 error

First check all connectors on the trans for security and condition. Do you get continuous FIPL voltage from idle to WOT as per specs.

Does your tach and speedo work ok..... One item 49 may be the MLP sensor, improper gear selection. Try wiping the codes and go for a run to set them again...gently.

i have 2 other 91's one with a 5 speed manuel the other has a allison 5 speed out of a 9 yard dump love both of em but this e4od is gonna drive me to drink

Make a special check of the connector on the solenoid pack RT side behind the heat plate (replace plate when done).

heh 2 problems the mlps is flaky and some #%$@%^ probed all of the wires on the solenoid pack connector and evidently broke a wire so now on order is a new sensor and connector and we'll see if that solves the problem oh btw no heat shield there at all but then again one isn't needed the exhaust isn't even near the connector

dual 3" stacks routed well away from everything oh btw did anyone realize that in 91 they also used an oddball nippendenso starter on some of the 7.3's i found out the hard way on my f-350 425 bucks through ford 185 to have it rebuilt and plc7.3 thank you very much for the thoughts it was greatly appreciated save a truck from having a cutting torch taken to it and made into 2'X2' squares cause another couple of days and thats what was gonna happen

Hey Scout49601, Hope you found your problem, but if not I had the same problem on my 94 F350 7.3L turbo with the E4OD and it wound up being the solinoid pack in the tranny, Ford charged me $300.00 for the part and $400.00 to install then it took about 1/2 of a day for the PCM to figure out the shift pattern on it again so it could shift smoothly....Funny thing is 1 month later I had to have the tranny pulled for a bad freeze plug that was another $325.00...FORD gotta love them..
