X-Plan Basic information - here's how to get it

OK, I just bought a 2004 f-150 fx4 on the X-Plan and I am NOT a Ford Employee/family member. Here is how to do it. First, find the vehicle you want by doing an inventory search at Ford.com. Write down all the relevant information so you know your vehicle and which dealer has it.

Now you need to get a PIN number to enter into Forddirect.com. How? Go to the Ford Employee's forum at http://www.blueovalnews.com/ and ASK politely for a PIN number. Ask the person to contact you by email and make arrangements to discuss it with them. Someone will offer you one in 5 minutes! They will need to know your name, last 4 digits of your SS#, which dealership the vehicle is at and the vin #. Only request one PIN number and be sure you plan to use it as it is unfair to the employee if you don't because it is registered to them and they cant give it away again. Don't request multiple pin numbers!

The employee registers your name with Forddirect.com and they will e-mail you the PIN number. Now you go to Forddirect, enter your vehicle info and pin number and it's yours! Rush right over to any local Ford Blue Oval dealer (doesn't have to be where the vehicle is, they can trade for it). Give them the PIN number, they enter it into the computer and the deal is done. They MUST disclose actual invoice, no dealer mark-ups on the X-plan price, not even doc fees, and you get all the rebates. Example, after rebates/xpan discount my 150 fx4 MSRP 33K+ out the door was 23K+, a 10K discount.

I'm a happy buyer! No haggling, no hassle!!!!!! Please note this a perfectly legitimate promotional program designed to get 1st time Ford buyers into the "Ford family". Dealers may hate it but buyers love it. Take advantage of it.

The dealer does not have to honor the x-plan price since it is a voluntary program. I suggest you go to the dealer that has the vehicle of interest because if the dealer has to trade for the vehicle and they will loose hold back on the vehicle. Doesn't affect the cost for you but will save some hassle for the dealer and like I said...if they dont want to trade for it they don't have to.

Why does it matter where the truck is located.... what if I wanted to order one?

Do you know of any way to get an A-plan Number the same way? I have a brother in law that can get one but we don't exactly talk to much.

I also bought my f-250 under the x-plan.

I also bought my truck under the X-plan, but it was offered to me from a froiend of mine that works for Ford Motor Co. It does save a bunch of money and was quite a savings to me.
My understanding is that A-plan is ONLY available to employees of Ford and their immediate family. If you don't want to talk to your brother in lay, take the X-plan at cost +6% and be happy!
Merry Christmas,
John Russell

I made a post over on Blueovalnews at 2:32 local time and had 3 seperate offers for PINs in my email by 2:41. I now have an X-plan PIN, and the guy said he had 3 more that he's willing to give out. Nice bunch of folks over there!

Thanks for the tip!

X-Plan varies depending on the model. I believe for the lower priced models, the X-Plan pricing may be above the invoice. Whereas the higher priced models the price is somewhat below the invoice. I know my X-Plan price is around $200 below the invoice price (about $39,200 vs. $39,400).

Of course, Jeff's current offer is making the X-Plan kind of moot. If I didn't already order my truck...

Unless you live across the country. For me, living in CA, an offer for $1000 off at a dealer in New York is about as useful as a pegleg on a jellyfish.

When I bought my truck I asked the dealer how much my truck would be on the X-Plan . They said why do you have a pin ? I said no however I do know that you can sell that truck for that price and I will not pay a penny more . They said if I would sign the papers that day its a deal . I signed the papers and threw down the $500.00 internet rebate coupon Ford sent me . They said they couldnt honor the coupon with this deal . After a few minutes I got them to meet me half way . So I received X-Plan price minus $250.00 minus Ford credit minus regular Ford rebate . If a dealer wants to sell vehicles they will sell for x-plan price without a pin#.

I bought my truck with the D-Plan. The price for D-plan and A-Plan were the same price listed on the "Special Invoice" that was given to me. I wasnt allowed to see that invoice until I had a PIN # and Certified copies of my birth Cert, brother Cert and Fathers birth Cer. Both were $2000 less than the X-Plan. Between the savings and D Plan rebate I knocked off over $10,000 on my truck. Told my brother to let me know if he ever decides to leave Ford so I can get another truck before that happens. Would like to try the D-Plan and Ford Direct to get exactly what I want so I will have to do some question asking before the next one.

A friend at work bought a SD using A Plan (his son worked for Ford); not only did he save a bunch of bucks ($9K), he wasn't assessed a "doc fee," AND got a full tank of Diesel fuel! Another friend at work, who's father works for Volvo (all these people have relatives working for Ford except me!), showed me a promotion paper for Ford employees regarding A/X/Z plans: X plan pricing is predicated on the A/Z plan price (they're the same price) for that particular vehicle + 4% (MSRP) + $150 . No doc fees and dealer MUST show you the invoice. Nothing mentioned in there about a full tank of fuel though.
