I'm starting to explore the possible routes for running electrical wires (power, speaker, interconnect, etc) between the truck cab and the bed. Does anyone have any suggestions for entering the cab? I'm thinking of coming in near the bottom-middle of the back, but I'm not sure what the best route into the bed is. This is for a 2001 F-150 SCrew.
Usually you can install power wires along the OEM harness up to the firewall and utilize an existing grommeted hole to pass the wires through. But if your doing a complete custom job (amps, extra batteries and such) I would suggest drilling your own holes and be shure to check bith sides of the firewall for wiring and such before drilling. You can usually find rubber grommets at auto supply stores or radio shack.
If your installing things in the bed of the truck, I'd suggest going through the floor of the bed, along the frame , then up into the cab. This way the bed and cab can still flex without damage to the wiring.
