Pewe used to be a gearhead that understood the common guy trying to scratch a living while still building a capable 4x4, but the years he's spent at the publishing industry has ruined him in my opinion- but it would do it to me too I imagine- Build a project and just call up Dynatrac for a pair of HP dana 60's in exchange for exposure time in a national mag- who couldnt get spoiled by that??? I got the video and the DVD of the same thing, I thought about keeping them without paying like everyone seems to be doing, but I had already seen them and didnt feel like getting all of their harrassment for payments that I legally didnt have to pay for- I figured that sending them back would send a stronger message about my dissatisfaction of their products than keeping it, but I'm shure they didnt get that message nor would they care!!
But you guys have my interest.....(insert spain accent here) What is this Extreme offroad you speak of? I must have it Damn you!!!......(Back to the texan accent.. I'm going to have to look this up.
i dont know about this extreme offroad thing. i mean rocks are cool and everything but i love the mud. it seems to me that petersons has a good mix of everything. i have never seen the xtreme mag but from the website it seems like its only rocks. correct me if im wrong

It is primarily rock crawling. Though rocks are not my gig that is where the evlolution of 4x4's is taking place. Rock competitions are responsible for all the new stronger parts being developed, like CTM's, alloy Rockwell axles, selectable lockers, hydro steering systems, etc. This is the stuff you want to keep an eye on even if you're a mud guy because this is where the new exciting junk is going to come from.
Most all the other mags are very informative if you need to know how to install a new air cleaner on a 2004 Durango or if you want to put a new performance chip in your Tacoma.
Maybe they oughta call it 'Xtreme RockRoad'. I got a few of those around my house...
I've thought about maybe starting a quarterly mag, tech articles and pictures and stuff, but then thought about it again, because nearly anything I want to do can either be answered here, on Pirate, after a couple phone calls, or some tinkering with the test light. Everything else is basically same ol, same ol. 60 pages of crap I'll never be able to afford. Buying that stuff would turn me from a Redneck wheeler to a preppie wheeler. If you got the money to buy 44" boggers, then you better have 600 horse to back it up and the nutz to take em thru a pit.
