Nope sorry. I've been stuck in the Stephen King Dark Tower novels... I'm the sixth one now (Song of Susannah). Great series of books... I also liked Bag of Bones...
heavnbound----me too. I get looks for breaking out a Haynes electrical manual just for leisurely reading. A lot of politics and finance stuff too...history/discovery/tlc junky too.
in the meantime----about 75% done "Atlas Shrugged" by Anne Rand. Good book, but huge. Need patience to get through it sometimes, and there's 1200 pages. But the book could have ended chapters ago and been good; she keeps piling stuff on, but in a good way. Just basically started 2 new stories within the past 100 pages, and all in the same book and story.
I read Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Westerns, (Nothing like a good Louis) Adventure, (Hammond Innes, Desmond Bagley, Alistair MacLean, Dan Brown) Suspense, (Dean Koontz) and many other genres. Missed the one you're talking about, any good? -TD
Tigerdan;YES! I think it's a great read if you like true wilderness stories. The author & his brother escape the depression in the 30's by heading to northern saskatchewan & for seven years live as trappers in a very remote area accessible in summer by canoe & in winter by dog team.If you look at a map you'll see it's still a wilderness area.
I am also more of a history or science reader. Very little in the way of novels.
I've read some Stephen King - not too impressed really, I'd rather just watch the films. Nothing against his writing at all, it's just difficult to keep my curiosity in a piece of fiction. This said, the best piece of fiction I've ever read by far was Watchers - by Deane Koontz. The movies were all terrible - but this book REALLY REALLY REALLY ROCKS! Trust me - its an AWESOME READ.
Of all Dean Koontz's books, Watchers was by far my favorite. Coming in second (and third) were Fear Nothing and its sequel, Sieze the Night. If you liked Watchers, you'll probably like these as well. -TD
