Does anybody know if the intake from a '86 302 will fit on a '68 302 - both normally aspirated ?? I think they are the same, but I want to be sure before going through a bunch of shipping headaches to find some subtle difference.

Reason: wrong year of engine

no problem there, i got a 68 302[ # 38 off the line ] i also have a 80 302, and also a 86 302. and i've taken parts from all these engines and built one engine for my ranger. and all the intakes interchange. all 3 engines were all original stock engines. so your safe there.the rangers engine runs great!!! she has a 68 302 with a 86 2barrel intake. with a holley 600 2 barrel. thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump, thump. V-8 rangers rule the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The Ranger...
there is one thing you need to make sure you do.make sure you get the right spacer plate for it. the spacer from the 68 will not work on the 86. it will slide on the studs, but there will be overhang because the manifold base is offset a little. and the spacer on the 86 works fine for the 86 manifold , but it has a built on egr valve.and i don't know how you are running your pcv system, but you will have to take that into consideration when doing the carb work. im using the 68 spacer on the 86 manifold. i found a way around the problem. but let me know what you decide to do, i will help you along... The Ranger.....
no problem man!!! yeah, it is a small problem, that will drive you nut's!!!!!!!!if you did'nt know about it, but now you know , so no problem... good luck and let us know how she goes......................................
I was going to do a simular swap but after doing some looking (comparing 1969 and 1983 Ford 302 intakes), the newer 302 intakes have larger water ports and a rear water crossover. The 83 also seems to have slightly smaller intake ports. Also, the guy at the parts store says the two years take differnt intake gaskets.
I think the swap will work but the ports will be differnt sizes and this may hurt air flow. I would think that you should also get the gasket to match the year of the intake.
Anyone else have any suggetions for this?
