auto trans upgrade

I have a 01 psd i was wondering what u guys recomend for upgrading the trans it in the shop now getting a rebuild it lost second gear and i was wanting to instal a shift kit when i got it back home the ford dealer is doing the rebuild and there not into installing aftermarket parts so i was just wondering what things i can do to increase reliability, with only 39,000 on the ticker i don't want to do this again anytime soon. thanks in advance for info

Sonnax valve and tricumulator springs. If you do alot of towing, a larger trans cooler would help extend its life,also. I have another cooler added in series with the stock coolers. It is mounted behind the grill in front of the condenser core.

I would have them install a trans go shift kit and look into putting a triple clutch torque converter and a larger cooler and a tranny temp gauge if you don't have one.
