Why does everybody pick on Ford
i guess Ford has been in my blood from the get go.. thats what dad always had..(until recently) his dad and his dad...i've been teaching my son to drive.. with a Ford..
i have a '79 f-250 single cab with a 400 and 4 on floor.. has a GIANT rockwell rearend on it..ratio is 7.17. so we have been working on clutching stuff.. i dont want him to be like me.. i was late learning to drive and by then everything was auto.. so i was almost 21 before i knew how to drive a standard...
anyway, i have a barking pitbull so that means that coyotes are in the field..
again polarbear, thanks for being logical and sensible..(things i am not most of the time)
best friends son is driving a 4th generation F150. Little pumpkin orange work truck that started out on his great-grandpa's farm in Michigan and finally migrated to Oregon. It refuses to die. That's powerful stuff. From where I sit, I wonder how long it'll take the marketing people to understand that. Nah.... they're all driving Jaguars.
Thanks for the farming stories- great stuff.
how many buyers are going to hear a funny sound one day, or maybe experience an unexpected shutter and then think "Oh boy, whats going on here?" They may think back to all the horror stories they'd heard about and
hope it really is over. 40,000.00 is too much money to gamble with - products need to be reliable for this kind of money.
I don't consider owning something I paid my HARD EARNED money for a "priveledge". No one is going to bow to you on the road and pay honor to you for owning any vehicle either - and if they do, your probably in the Twilight Zone. This is crazy talk - zealot talk. Ford would love if all their buyers felt this way - imagine not having to honor the warranty since the owner is priveledged enough just to ride in the vehicle - nevermind expecting and due repairs on it. Please.
There are many Motorcraft/GM/Mopar zealots out there who would buy only one particular brand regardless if it was always complete junk. Most shoppers
arent too brand loyal. I know this. My brother is still negotiating a deal with the local Ford dealer on a brand new F150 SuperCrew Lariat. We test drove a Dodge 1500 HEMI, Toyota Tundra, and even a GMC. All three had advantages over the Ford - especially acceleration and turning radius. Why did my brother pick the Ford? Superior suspension? Nope. Superior speed and handling? Not a chance. Ford's renown reputation of being "Built Ford Tough"? Don't make me laugh...lol..too late. He picked it because it has a very nice shiny interior which includes the prettyest consol shifter he's ever seen.
To be fair, the Ford was a really nice truck, and did have a good build quality to it from what I saw, but this goes to show how many people can be swayed
by something which would not matter in the least to someone else. Certainly this little shifter dosent make the Ford tough or reliable in any way - but because of it my brother will convince himself of the rest - no sales pitch needed.
I'da went with the Dodge myself - thats the beauty of having so many choices these days - you buy what you LIKE. EVERY ONE of the trucks
we looked over and tested had real advantages over the others.
And I would be happy to own any but the Toy - it's too small. I would
not feel priveledged or honored owning any of them. It's my money.
Ford Trucks for Ford Truck Enthusiasts
I love my truck now, even though I just replaced upper and lower ball Joints at 40,000 miles. It's got a few creeks and rattles, but everything works.
I've had problems with my fords, but a ford has NEVER left me stranded. Just lucky I guess. Hopefully it stays that way.

AMEN!!! I couldn't have said it any better myself!!!
The manufacturers should consider it an HONOR and a PRIVILEGE to have someone BUY their vehicle. It is CERTAINLY NOT an honor and a privilege to own their vehicles. We buy them because we need them (or at least we think we do)
i chose to purchase an older Ford because i was raised in one.. and have one that is a toy.. and have a Ford car...i bought my truck based on needs more than anything..
i needed something with some power, i have a 460 under the hood.. i needed something with auto trans because shifting interferes with stereo and cellfone talking.. i have a c-6 under the truck... i haul HEAVY loads at times.. i got an F-250.. i needed something with some room.. so i got a supercab... most of all, i needed something that would not leave me stranded and that will be around for another 25 years.. so i got the '79 Ford...
if you are having good luck with a chevy, stay with a chevy.. if you are having good luck with a Dodge, stay with it... if you are trying to run a farm, get a Ford.. no. kidding.
the point was that people talk smack about any brand they dont care for.. i do it too. it is human nature to want to be better, smarter, faster, stronger, whatever than the next person.. we cant help but be that way...
and i really feel like it is an honor and priveledge to own a Ford. just like it is an honor and a priveledge to live in a free society.. where we can own trucks.. and drive them when we want..pretty much where we want..
so all that being said, now you know what this Redneck thinks and i am done with this thread..(i think)
Also before you or a friend, maybe someone you know goes to buy that forgin made car look at then and say hey my neighbor works for one fo the big 3 auto makers and he has 2 kids, a wife and a house and is strugglin to make ends meet and might even loose his house and kids go hungry sometimes. put yourself in those shoes. that was just something to think about cause it does happen.
i have heard someone here say" if you find a real ford mack in your ,town keep him". Redneck'n ,you sound like a real ford baby, just like me, my first ride in a ford was in 1970 january 26 @1:15am when my moms was rushed to the hospitol todeliver me in and old ford "D" series ambulance

the first time i remember being in a truck was when dad took a curve at a high rate of speed and the door came open on the passenger side. my cousin fell out.. he wasnt hurt though...that was a '65 f-100..
people around here are divided by brand as well..you generally wont see both kinds of trucks in a yard here.. almost everyone has a chevy car and a Ford truck.. also i've noticed that right around my neck of the woods, those that race dirt track have chevy and those that drag have Ford..i have 3 Ford drag racers within earshot of my house.. so i get to listen to them often..
y'all have a good Christmas.
