alright, well i took the sockets back and the guy finaly found me one with 4 notches and it fit. so now i have most of it appart and the only thing keeping me from getting the axel out is the spindle wich seems to be totaly fused on. there was about 8 bolts holding it on but after removeing them it doesnt budge. any tips on how to remove this?
my guess is you are just having trouble getting it through the knuckle it is a very tight fight, and you need to have the wheels pointed straight, then wiggle it through, but like I said it fits through snuggly
I think he's talking about the socket for removing the hub nut, not the sockets he's using to press the U-joints out. How many notches does your hub nut have? Some are 4 and some are 6. It's not a very good fit even if you have the right socket but once you break them loose they'll come right out.
You're right. Strange, the first thing I see is monsterbaby replying.
so.... any tips on removeing the axel from the differential? or should it just slide out nicely? am i suppost to seperate it before the differential somewhere?
If you are talking the passenger side then yes there is a slip joint in the axle look at the axle from the back side, and you will see a rubber boot with 2 clamps on it remove one of the clamps (you will have to cut it off as they are a crimped type of deal I just replace them with a hose clamp), and the axle should seperate right there with a splined slip joint, if you need to get the inner part of the axle out to replace that ujoint, you will need to drop the pumpkin out as the pass side on the TTB frontends is held in with a C clip
