Winter Fronts?

My 05 f250 SD 6.0 PSD is now two weeks old. I have 1265 miles on this beast and need to know when to change the oil & filter for the frist time? This is my first diesel so I could use some information on it. Also the temperature has started to dip into the teens so when should i start to think about buying a winter front? Some guys tells me don't spend my money on them and others say that if you drive on the highway much they help keep the motor at a better operating temperature. Again some help on this matter would be nice. Ford really did their homework on this truck, as it is so nice to drive. Thanks for all the information I receive on this post.

I like this cold front: http://www.lundlook.com/products/grille/1_coldfrnt.html So I think I'm gonna buy one.

I like Lund's screen front for summer too. (keeps the bugs off the AC condensor)

There are many out there that would say that the engine thermostat should be relied upon for consistant engine temperatures. I feel the cold front "helps" the thermostat during cold weather as long as there's still enough air flow to allow things to stay within normal operating temperatures. I would be careful with a cold front if the temperatures warm rapidly or if you're running under heavy load. Blocking off the intercooler when needing cool air would be a bad idea.

As with any new engine an oil change at less than 2000 miles is a good idea. Most of the assembly debre should be mixed in with the oil and ready for removal by then. If you wait for 5000 miles, you may introduce abraisives throughout the lubrication system more often than you want. I changed mine at 1500 miles which is where a lot of people do. Some change to synthetic lube at that time. I'm going with Delo400.

You might want one of these: http://fumotovalve.com Many in FTE use them.

I've learned that these are the best price oil filters. http://www.oilguard.com/Merchant4/me...ry_Code=racor1

You might find that using the search function within FTE is a great advantage to find posts that have very valuable information.

Oh, and you're not alone. Many of us have our own first diesels. (worked with a bunch of them, but this is my first also)
